The two top diplomats held their talks over the phone on Saturday.
Amirabdollahian thanked Russia for holding a UN Security Council emergency meeting on the Israeli attack on April 2, a day after the regime struck the Iranian diplomatic mission in the Syrian capital Damascus.
He meanwhile lashed out at the US for what he described as adopting double-standard policies as Washington prevented a Security Council resolution that would have condemned the Israeli regime over the consulate attack.
The Russian foreign minister, on his part, said that targeting diplomatic missions is unacceptable and all countries should condemn such measures.
Israeli attacks against civilians should be condemned by countries as well, he added.
Also in their phone call, Amirabdollahian and Lavrov discussed the latest developments in Gaza.
In a Saturday phone conversation with his Dutch counterpart Hanke Bruins Slot, the Iranian foreign minister said that if the international community does not stop the Zionist regime’s war crimes, all sides would be affected.
The two foreign ministers discussed the latest developments in the region, in particular the ongoing aggression in Gaza, as well as mutual relations.
The Dutch foreign minister pointed to the significant position of the Islamic Republic in the region, urging Iran to help restore regional peace and stability.
Foreign ministers of Iran and Cyprus also had a phone call on Saturday night to discuss issues of mutual interests.
Cyprus’ Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos described the Israeli regime’s airstrike on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Syria as unacceptable, calling for steps to promote de-escalation in the region.
Amirabdollahian, for his part, discussed Iran’s stance on the expansion of mutual ties with Cyprus as well as the regional developments.
Belgian Foreign Minister Hadja Lahbib told her Iranian counterpart in a phone conversation that Belgium condemns the Israeli attack on Iran’s diplomatic mission in Damascus.
Lahabib emphasized that her country will promote consensus among member states of the European Union to continue consultations to promote the end of hostilities in Gaza, provide the Gazans with foodstuff, and pave the way for the release of prisoners.
Amirabdollahian referred to Belgium’s presidency of the Council of the European Union, urging the country to take advantage of the opportunity to help restore peace and stability both in the region and at the international level.
